A Simple, One-step, Seedless Hydrothermal Growth of ZnO Nanorods on Printed Circuit Board Substrate

High quality, high density, and well-aligned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods have been synthesized on cost-effective printed circuit board (PCB) substrates via a simple, seedless, one-step, low-temperature hydrothermal method based galvanic cell structure. It was found that the outer diameters of the ZnO nanorods range from 50 nm to 400 nm. The as-grown ZnO nanorods prefer to grow along the c axis. The morphologies of the ZnO nanorods were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The crystallinity properties were characterized by Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy.

Torsional buckling and post-buckling behavior of eccentrically stiffened functionally graded toroidal shell segments surrounded by an elastic medium

The nonlinear buckling and post-buckling problems of functionally graded stiffened toroidal shell segments surrounded by an elastic medium under torsion based on an analytical approach are investigated. The rings and stringers are attached to the shell, and material properties of the shell are assumed to be continuously graded in the thickness direction. The classical shell theory with the geometrical nonlinearity in von Kármán sense and the smeared stiffeners technique are applied to establish theoretical formulations. The three-term approximate solution of deflection is chosen more correctly, and the explicit expression to find critical load and post-buckling torsional load-deflection curves is given. The effects of geometrical parameters and the effectiveness of stiffeners on the stability of the shell are investigated. Nonlinear buckling of higher deformable S-FGM thick circular cylindrical shells with metal-ceramic-metal layers surrounded on elastic foundations in thermal environment

An analytical approach on the nonlinear response of thick functionally graded circular cylindrical shells with temperature independent material property surrounded on elastic foundations subjected to mechanical and thermal loads is presented. Material properties are graded in the thickness direction according to a Sigmoid power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of constituents (S-FGM). The formulations are based on the third order shear deformation shell theory taking into account von Karman nonlinearity, initial geometrical imperfection and Pasternak type elastic foundation. By applying Galerkin method and using stress function, explicit relations of thermal load-deflection curves of the S-FGM shells are determined.
